St. Maarten/St. Martin is known as the Gastronomic paradise in the entire Caribbean boasting over 300 restaurants. 

Food takes on a whole new meaning on our island…The food is a multicultural blend of ethnic traditions.  The variety is truly amazing along with the creative and evocative cuisine that is offered at the higher end restaurants.  During your visit to the island, do take the time out to wine and dine in order to experience the various delights the island has to offer.

Just to give you a taste of what is available on St. Maarten/St. Martin, we have compiled a list of some of the recommended restaurants:

Le Montmartre – Parisienne Brasserie, open for dinner only.  Named one of the Caribbean’s top restaurants by Bon Appetit magazine.  Montmartre offers a delight to every one of the senses.

La Gondola Ristorante – Fine Italian cuisine, open for dinner only.  An authentic Italian dining experience awaits in the large, well-appointed restaurant.

Rare Steakhouse – A creative spin on the classic American steakhouse, open for dinner only.  An elegant eatery, housed in a beautifully restored historical home.

Temptation – Nouveau Cuisine, open for dinner only.  Chef/Owner Dino Jagtiani presides over the kitchen which was named one of the top 10 new restaurants of the Caribbean in the February 2005 issue of Bon Appétit magazine.

Cupecoy

Citrus – Bold contemporary cuisine, open for dinner only.  Great romantic restaurant that has an intimate, candlelit ambience.

Maho Area

Terra – American fine dining, open for dinner only.  Terra Restaurant opened its doors in September 2004…This restaurant offers a great dining experience right in the heart of Maho entertainment area.  Terra is a culmination of good food and great wine.  Chef Scot Clagett was part of the team of St. Martin chefs that was proclaimed the Winner at the 2005 Taste of the Caribbean contest held in Miami.

La Rosa Too – Italian Cuisine, open for dinner only.  One of the more traditional Italian restaurants on the island serving some of your favorite Italian dishes.

Oyster Pond/Dawn Beach

Mr. Busby’s Beach Bar – International Cuisine, open for lunch and dinner.  Located right on Dawn Beach, this is a great hang-out while visiting Dawn Beach.  They have great burgers, ribs, chicken, fresh lobster, seafood and Italian dishes.

Philipsburg

Shiv Sagar – Indian Cuisine, open for lunch and dinner.  Located right in Philipsburg, this restaurant is one of the better Indian restaurants on the island serving good food in a nice ambiance.

Taloula Mango’s – Creative Caribbean cuisine, open for lunch and dinner.  Located on the boardwalk, diners can choose from the open air terrace or the upstairs air conditioned dining balcony.  Great spot to have lunch or enjoy a drink while shopping in Philipsburg.

L’Escargot – Classic French cuisine and seafood, open for lunch and dinner.  L’Escargot is celebrating 31 years of excellent dining in a vintage gingerbread Creole house that dates back over 150 years right in the heart of Philipsburg.

Simpson Bay

The Boathouse – Seafood Grill & Bar, open for lunch and dinner.  The Boathouse has been welcoming patrons to the island for more than 15 years.  The ambiance is whimsically nautical in décor, and guests dine on fresh seafood, daily specials, steaks, burgers, salads and pastas while overlooking Simpson Bay Lagoon.  Good place for the entire family to hang out.

Lee’s Roadside Grill – Island style seafood restaurant, open for lunch and dinner.  This restaurant is a favorite for casual dining offering great fresh seafood, lobster and a large selection of other entrees including ribs, chicken and hamburgers.  Live music is offered every evening.  Great place for the family.

Peg Leg Pub & Steakhouse – American style steakhouse, open for lunch and dinner.  Guests can dine indoors or on the deck overlooking the water.  Great steaks and a large selection of other items on the menu.  Good food in a casual environment offering a nice place for the family.

Pineapple Pete – Island & French Cuisine, open for lunch and dinner.  Casual place to hang out offering great food at reasonable prices.  Good place for the family.

Saratoga – Creative contemporary cuisine, open for dinner only.  Rate by Frommers 2003 as “…the most cutting edge restaurant on the island”, offering the possibility of a romantic waterside dinner for two or a special event with a larger group or 10 to 100 people.

Zee Best – Open for breakfast and lunch.  Zee Best has earned loyal breakfast fans for its incredibly fresh and wonderful pastries, croissants and other baked goods, extensive coffee selection and freshly squeezed juices.  Diners may also choose from crêpes, omelets, quiches and much more.  Established in 1983, Zee Best has its original location in Marigot’s Marina Royale.

Grande Case

Bistro Caraibes – French-Caribbean Cuisine, open for dinner only.  A cozy and charming ambiance located on the main street in the center of Grand Case.

L’Alabama – French Gourmet Cuisine, open for dinner only.  The restaurant has been here since 1991.  The chef has fine-tuned the art of pairing sweet with sour and raw with cooked elements to create a very tantalizing and unique cuisine.

Le Cottage – Fine French Cuisine, open daily for dinner only.  This trendy restaurant with its unique setting will ravish your taste buds by a refined and innovating cuisine.

Le Fish Pot – Seafood and fine French Cuisine, open for dinner only.  Le Fish Pot has been here for many years and is famous for its wonderful seafood and gorgeous view overlooking the beach and the nearby island of Anguilla.

Le Pressoir – Fine French Cuisine, open for dinner only.  This restaurant is among the finest and famous restaurants of our island.  Enjoy an evening of authentic and gastronomic cooking in a traditional Creole house built in 1871.  Intimate and authentic, Le Pressoir will stay an unforgettable experience.

Le Tastevin – French Gourmet Cuisine, open for lunch and dinner.  This restaurant is known for its attentive and discreet service and gorgeous sunset views offering French cuisine seasoned with the flavors of the Caribbean. 

Rainbow – Caribbean-French Fusion Cuisine, open for dinner only.  This restaurant has been here for over 25 years offering superb food and excellent service.

Sebastiano – Italian Bistro, open for dinner only.  With 25 years of experience in St. Martin, one of the better Italian restaurants on the island.

Spiga Restaurant – Creative Italian cuisine, open for dinner only.  Spiga opened its doors in November 2002 and has gained a reputation as one of the finer Italian restaurants on the island.

Marigot

La Belle Epoque – Restaurant & Pizzeria, open daily for breakfast, lunch & dinner.  Located at Marina Royale, this great restaurant offers a variety of salads, pasta, large choice of excellent pizzas, meat and fish specialties.  Great spot to grab a bite after a day of shopping in Marigot.

La Vie en Rose – French cuisine, open for lunch & dinner daily.  One of the finest French restaurants on the island for the past 26 years offering attentive and discreet service.  Housed in a beautiful upstairs establishment overlooking the Marigot harbor, the décor is intimate and romantic.  It also maintains its charms in the true French tradition with its sidewalk café under the umbrellas.

Le Gaïac – A gastronomic restaurant offering French and inventive cuisine with all the Caribbean flavors.  Facing Marigot Bay, on the terrace of the West Indies Shopping Mall located on the 2^nd Floor.

Le Chanteclair – French cuisine, open for dinner only.  Located on Marina Royale, this spacious and air conditioned restaurant has a superb view on the Marina.  Cecile Briaud-Richard, the chef and owner got the Gold Medal of Pastry at the “Taste of St. Martin” competition but also in Miami, as a member of the St. Martin Official Team who have won the Supreme Certificate “Best Gourmet Island” in June 2005.

Le Saint Severin – French Bistro, open for lunch and dinner.  Located just outside of Marigot on the way to Cole Bay.  This restaurant serves hearty fare at reasonable prices.  This restaurant offers both air-conditioned indoor and outdoor dining.

Le Tropicana – Parisian Bistro, open for lunch and dinner.  The restaurant is on Marina Royale in Marigot overlooking Marigot Marina.  Le Tropicana provides gutsy, rootsy cooking tempered with a light, modern touch.

Nettle Bay

La Cigale – French cuisine, open for dinner only.  Directly located on the beach of Laguna Beach, this restaurant offers a Terrace on the Lagoon and an air conditioned room.  The team will make you discover mixtures of unforgettable flavors.

Orient Bay

Bikini Beach Tapas Bar & Grill – Tapas, Thai Seafood & More, open daily for breakfast and lunch.  Located in the heart of Orient Bay, this restaurant serves a huge variety of tapas (appetizers) and a variety of entrees with a Thai influence.  A full American breakfast is also served daily.

Kakao Beach – International Cuisine, open daily for lunch.  Located right on Orient Bay, this restaurant serves a wonderful menu.

Waikiki Beach – International Cuisine, open daily for lunch.  Located on Orient Bay, this restaurant serves a fabulous menu.  Slightly higher in price than the other restaurants on Orient Bay, but well worth it!

 Sandy Ground

Thai Garden – Thai Cuisine, open for dinner only.  The flavors from Thailand and Asia within a great ambiance.

Le Santal – Gastronomic restaurant, open daily for dinner only.  A five star gourmet restaurant according to the most outstanding critics.  For 2006, Le Santal has been honored the coveted AAA Four Diamonds Awards for creative cuisine, excellent service and upscale surroundings.  This charming restaurant is one of the longest established and most acclaimed restaurants on the island.  The restaurant is located in a beachside villa with a very romantic ambiance and fabulous view…Enjoy your dinner with the sound of the waves right in front of you.
